Easy {Fool Proof} Homemade Pretzel Bread Recipe

This Fool Proof Homemade Pretzel Bread has a salty and crispy crust with a tender inside! Making it the perfect bread for sandwiches or for dunking into your favorite cheese sauce!

Easy {Fool Proof} Homemade Pretzel Bread Recipe
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond or cashew mílk (or mílk of choíce)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons coconut sugar
  • 1 envelope quíck rísíng yeast
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 to 3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Boílíng Solutíon:
  • 3 quarts water
  • 1/2 cup bakíng soda
  • 1 egg, líghtly beaten
  1. In a saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, heat the butter and milk until warm, between 120° into 130°F; the butter won't be melted completely.
  2. In the bowl of a mixer or a large mixing bowl, add the milk mixture.
  3. Insert the undissolved yeast and brown sugar into the milk mixture and stir.
  4. Stir in salt and two cups flour, beat for 3 minutes. Add enough flour to make a dough that is soft.
  5. Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, 8 to 10 minutes.
  6. Put in a greased bowl, cover with a towel and let rise for 1 to 2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  7. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  8. In a large saucepan, combine the water and baking soda. Bring to a boil.
  9. Punch down the dough and divide into two equal pieces. Form each piece. Add the dough into the boiling water and simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from water and place. Repeat with remaining dough.
  10. Brush with egg and cut a shallow cross in the top with a knife. Place in oven and bake for 15 minutes. Reduce the temperature? Bake and F for 10 to 12 minutes or until the loaves are browned. (After a couple of trials, we favor the 10 minutes into the 11 or 12 minutes.) Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack.
